Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) is a story of Kabeer Thapar (Ranbir Kapoor) fondly know as Bunny who believes in racing with time to achieve his dream of travelling the world and pursue his passion in journalism and photography. The movie is about this race where his sole philosophy is to be on the move constantly without stopping ever. Does he lose or gain in the bargain is the audience's look out.

On the crossroads of life there are Naina (Deepika Padukone) a medical student and victim of super-ambitious parents, Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) who believes in living life at free will and Adi (Aditya Roy Kapur) who is slightly confused in life. The story also entangles the under current of a love story which pretty much is one sided to begin with.  The director has picked up some wonderful threads in the movie like the father-son relationship between Bunny and his father played by Farooq Shaikh, the strange relationship and the love angle between Adi and Aditi, Naina's conflict with self. However in an effort to weave it into the story the director has struggled on all these fronts. The director clearly seems confused as to which thread needs to be the highlight of the story and which threads to weave around. Thus nothing comes out substantially and it all ends up typically in a bollywood style.

The music and the cinematography are strong sides of the movie. The peppy numbers set you moving in the grooves and the sufiana music does relax your nerves. The snow clad mountains of Manali are a treat to watch. 'Battameez Dil' rocks and urges you to get up and dance. Ranbir and Deepika rock the screen with their presence. Kalki is as always good in a supportive role. Aditya Roy Kapur is the weakest link. He is not able to carry out the character as he is confused in the film as well as true life it seems. Watch Songs

Overall a good entertainer if you are there to watch a masala film without much expectations. The director could have actually hit Mackannas Gold, had he just applied his mind and focused on one streak of the story. After all Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani!!
